The Seventh International Conference on CSCW in Design

September 25-27, 2002, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro International Airport is the choice landing place.  From the airport to Copacabana, it takes 20-40 minutes by taxi, depending on the time of the day.  Air-conditioned taxi cost around US18 and may be prepaid in the airport in cash  or major credit-cards.

Two Airport bus lines go to and from the airport and areas of the city.  One heads toward Centro and Santos Dumont Domestic Airport ($2.50) and the other goes toward the city center and the beaches ($5). These buses run from 5:20am to 12:10am and depart every 40 minutes to one hour. The line that goes to the beachs stops at the door-steps of most Copacabana hotels, including the conference hotel.

Traveling within Brazil

If you plan to travel within Brazil, consider buying an airpass. They are good for three weeks after the first date of use, and can be purchased for the entire country or per region. The passes include five tickets and cost between $290-$490, and additional tickets can be purchased separately. It is best to reserve your trip ahead of time, but not vital.  The airpass can only be purchased outside Brazil.

The Conference official Travel Agency - Blumar, will be able to arrange Accommodation, Conference Registration and Tours. An agent will be present at the conference to help attendees.
